Poppy paintings are now available at the Port Townsend Gallery.

Poppies are blooming again on the walls of the wonderful eclectic Port Townsend Gallery, 715 Water Street, in historic downtown Port Townsend, Washington. Always a perennial favorite, the paintings of vibrantly colored impasto oils with palette knife technique contrasting with glimmering gold backgrounds are on gallery wrap canvas and ready to display in your home. Each painting is an original, ready to be displayed in your home or office.

What’s coming up in the future? More expressive and flamboyant flowers, different color backgrounds, wider variety of sizes, and even giclee reproductions on canvas – with hand painted gold backgrounds and enhanced flower petals.

While you’re in the gallery, look for Scrap Art blank cards arriving soon, each one unique suitable for giving or framing.

Thank you, Port Townsend Gallery artists, for voting me in as a Guest Artist.

The poppies have been on hiatus for a few years now, but they’re returning soon! Creativity is wide ranging by nature, and other projects have been taking precedence. But poppies have been on my mind and in the air…. it is time to revel in glorious colors again. I am continuously surprised at how many people are enchanted, touched, appreciative and more with the colorful vibrancy of the dancing flowers. Perhaps it’s the cheer, simplicity, or just frivolity of the images? Whatever the response, it all begins with the beauty of the images…even without the surprise of seeing the actual highly textured, physical surface of the oil paint against the gold backgrounds. I still have not found a satisfactory method of reproducing the poppy series in prints. Originals are available and are worth the effort.
